I saw him last Sunday in Tivoli, Utrecht. What a great concert!
Apparently he was out and about in the city on the day, sadly I did not know and missed him but I knew someone who got a picture with him. Yes, he is even more gorgeous in real life than on photos. It is unbelievable.
I went with my concert bff and we had a good trainride there and drank a cup of coffee in the venue, it was a pretty lovely venue and also great weather with the sun and all. The merchandise was basically shirts with text and a poster… Like, did they even try? Also sunglasses. I remember last tour there was something you could write a card or something to win something, those cards were pretty cute (and free?) which I took one as a gift to my friend who couldn’t make it then that time.
The concert was full of his Spanish bops, mucho bailando por favor. La Cintura was right before the encore and went off. The crowd went wild. Also big balloons for the audience to smash with and then there was a song which was new to me, I don’t know everything by heart. He often gets asked why he is so positive (and remains that), and there’s never a time when he’s less positive? So he wrote some ballads to show another side, cute that he brought a lamp thing to ‘bring something from home to the tour’, and sang those ballads at the piano. That was alright. His talks in between the songs almost ventured into Jason Mraz hippy ‘we can heal the world’ kind thing, but gladly it did not take that route and went more fun instead of the things about recycling and climate change. I’m here to bop Alvaro, but thanks for your kind words about how clean the Netherlands is.
He ended with Sofia, his biggest hit. El Mismo Sol was also there and in between there was an enjoyable duet with a female bandmember. He said some Dutch words, quite funny and also he did a trumpet with his mouth while his band member repeated after him with a real trumpet, kind of funny. I think it would have been better if there were only 2 ballads instead of 3 and I think a Spanish cover in there could also work? It was Mother’s Day but not in Spain or so and he celebrated that. All in all, I enjoyed it a lot! Worth to see and not expensive. Had a great time!
