Sooo guys I saw her Tuesday 2 July 2019 and it was fucking amazing. I have a shorts description of my visit as I always do when I visit concerts. It was such an amount of fun and joyful experience. Skip if you are still going and do not wanna be spoiled!
I went with my friends and we had an easy train ride to Amsterdam. There we decided on getting some pasta, delicious. Then no-one showed up for an ordered plate (box) of pasta and we are very pro-climate and anti-waste so we asked if we could get that box if no-one came to take it. And we got it, hurray. That box tasted even better than the ones before because we did our job for the environment (ehm no free just tastes better teehee). Then we took the ferry and walked around the venue because I had no idea and never went to Paradiso Noord. It is such a small venue, only 550 capacity according to Wikipedia. It was a hot day so for sure the venue was hot too.
We got in without any hassle and of course, I had to check out the merchandise. It was very cute but nothing special sadly, so I decided to not get any (how off-brand eh?) and then we went to the room she played. It was packed and so full already, we Dutchies be stanning. So my tall friend and I went upstairs and there was a spot free near the balcony thing so I could look, and we had a bit of space for ourselves which we desperately needed, because that DJ turned it the FUCK up when she started! All classics from Mariah, Janet, Nicki to Adele, Beyoncé, Kylie, Spice Girls, etc. Best opener I have ever seen perform and with such energy!
Then Lizzo came on quite early, something before nine or so (great and on time, Queen) and the roof just blew up! The energy. The charisma and stage-presence were so undeniable. The atmosphere. It was so warm, exciting, powerful and fantastic. She opened with Cuz I Love You and it was so good. Really liked her voice all night and the long notes were such a show-off. Live was just as perfect as we. She brought 4 dancers, the Big Girls and they were good too! Really enjoyed looking at them dancing and they felt like a close family, with her DJ and Lizzo included. Two had their birthday this week so we sang Happy Birthday.
My favourites were Tempo, Good as Hell, Juice and Soulmate. I loved her crowd interaction too. There was much of it but it all felt genuine and we loved her. Of course, she mentioned that just before she was on Glastonbury for an insane amount of people, but that intimate venues are great (and better sometimes?) because she can literally see everyone! Also, a great shout-out to the album and we need to be streaming Truth Hurts to make sure it gets Top 10. But she forgot to mention you need a VPN set on US otherwise it doesn’t count #stan
The self-love and all that really hit that night. I love you. You are beautiful. You can do anything. Being your own soulmate and the funny ways she got that as a bridge to other songs. I loved this so much, girl made me cackle all the time. She was so hilarious and funny.
A great concert. Such a performed but we all know that from her performances over the years. I’m glad I went to this and easily a Top 3 concert of my year and perhaps life? So cool. She deserves the world guys and we are truly seeing the birth of a star.
